Throw Back Thursday – Those Summer Nights

etpicheader2With the season coming to an end, I can’t help but think back on what an amazing summer I have had! From the Longest Yard Sale Trip to getting engaged in Vermont, and my 30th birthday party, I have really had an eventful summer.  While we may not have spent much time in Boston, the little things we did do were some of my favorite, including movie night on the Harbor.

The Boston Harbor Hotel, which is located in one of the most beautiful and scenic areas in Boston, held events every weekday in the Summer, called Summer in the City.  The live music varied daily and included swing, soul, country, and blues with every Friday night hosting both live music and a movie on the water. Once Jim and I saw the summer schedule, we knew which movie would be perfect, a classic, and one of my all time favorites: E.T.

We started the night early with some dinner on the water, and listened to the live band play on the barge.  Reserving a table (especially on Fourth of July Weekend) was important, as it allowed for us to get a seat, as we didn’t know how packed the hotel would get.  And boy am I glad that we prepared, as all of the tables were filled, as well as all of the stairs which held families and couples alike.

Once the sun went down the movie was set to start, and people were excited! We enjoyed a bottle of wine on ice and a nice breeze from the water while Spielberg’s classic played, and lines were quoted.

After the movie, Jim and I walked around the city and stopped at Emack and Bolio’s for some delicious salted caramel ice cream treats!

It ended up being one of those great summer nights in Boston that makes me sad to see summer go, but I look forward to the fall and all the great things the next season has to offer!
