You guys are not going to want to miss this one! I recently attended a first birthday party for an adorable little girl named, you guessed it…Olivia! My friend Lauren and her husband Gianni put together a playful party based on the Olivia The Pig children’s books! This party was filled with tons of diy decor including but not limited to a lemonade stand, a “pig pen” for the grown ups, and a photo booth complete with Olivia The Pig photo props! What more could a little girl (and all the party guests) ask for? Cake? Yup they had that too!
First up, meet the birthday girl! Olivia as the guest of honor was the center of attention, and how could she not be, just look at that face!
The outdoor party took place on a sunny day under and around the pavilion at Walnut beach in Milford, CT. You will notice that Lauren used the Olivia The Pig book colors of red, pink and turquoise as her color scheme throughout the party and placed a corresponding Olivia The Pig book next to the different areas of the party! Talk about a consistent theme!
Guests entered the pavilion which was surrounded by pink and red paper lanterns and immediately got to know a little more about Olivia via a first birthday stat chalkboard sign and a string of pictures of her taken over the past year!
Lauren’s friend made this using chalkboard paint and markers, and not only did it serve as a colorful introduction into the party, but it is also a great keepsake as well!
The string of pictures shows just how much Olivia has grown and changed over the past year! Once you walked under the picture garland guests could find refreshments at the lemonade stand! Gianni made the lemonade stand and Lauren stenciled and decorated it with pinwheels and an ombre pink tassel banner that she made! And of course there was a corresponding Olivia The Pig book which helped tie it all together! I just love the way this turned out!
For the guests looking for an adult beverage, they could wander over to the “Pig Pen” area which was sectioned off by a wood fence that Gianni assembled and which was decorated with banners and tissue paper flowers. Inside the pig pen one could find not only cold drinks but a few haystacks for sitting along with two wood chairs that Lauren bought at a flea market and spray painted in the fun colors of the party!
In this same area were these adorable letters spelling out “Olivia”. Lauren picked up cardboard letters and covered them in pages from the Olivia The Pig books using Mod Podge!
Each table in the pavilion featured a centerpiece with an Olivia The Pig original board book next to milk glasses that Lauren picked up from the Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in Milford. The little vintage milk glasses were then filled with pink and red gerber daisies, the perfect flower for such an occasion!
Fun was had by all with lawn games for the adults and a ball pool for the kids!
But it was the photo booth area that had both adults and children alike having the most fun! For this Lauren used a room divider which she decorated with red tool, a diy tassel banner and some Olivia The Pig props she made using pink felt sheets and paper straws!
I love how Lauren created an area that enticed people to want to take pictures! Here are a few great family pictures of Lauren, Gianni and the birthday girl…before everyone else jumped in on the fun!
And what would a birthday party be without dessert? Or I should say desserts!
The big Olivia cake was done by Eddy’s Bake shop in Ansonia, CT! The small smash cake was made by Lauren’s friend, and the cake pops and cookies were made by Lauren!
The pint-sized guests didn’t just leave with full bellies, they also got one of these cute little piggy banks as a party favor! They really did think of everything!
I love how on theme everything was and how much thought went into planning such a fun birthday party! I’d say it was a smashing success!

Oh my gosh, how cute! Love her idea of using all the books for a different section of the party! Very clever!
I know I loved that idea too! They thought of everything!! Thanks for commenting!:)
