A few days ago my sister and her husband invited Jim and I over to their apartment for a pre-Christmas get together of food, drinks and games. But I think they just wanted to show off their beautifully decorated apartment. Ok, I know that’s not the reason. Still, I couldn’t help but feel as though I was stepping onto a Christmas movie set! A fire was burning, holiday music was playing, and the whole apartment felt very cozy, and very, very festive!
I mean how could you not feel all warm and cozy sitting next to a crackling fire? They are lucky I didn’t sleep over, right on that chair.
The mantel was one of my favorite parts of their decor. Holly bought wooden letters to spell out “Believe” from JoAnn’s and spray painted them a silvery blue and arranged them above the fireplace. She then hung a wreath my mother had made using white twigs, burlap and berries above that, I just love having crafty family members!
Nothing feels more like Christmas to me than a fireplace with stockings. Oh and having a Christmas tree helps too! Especially when that Christmas tree is huge, with burlap garland, and silver and gold ornaments! And of course her DIY Tree Ornaments too! By combining these elements Holly managed to give both a rustic and elegant feel to their home for the holidays.
Simple details like hanging pinecones from twine over mirrors and frames really made an impact.
There were reminders of the season around every room in the apartment! Most of which were DIY decorations done by Holly!
Even the kitchen felt festive!
So if you want that comfy cozy Christmas feeling, you need a fire, a beautiful tree, and plenty of DIY decorations…or you can schedule a visit to view the home of Holly & Craig!
* Curious about our little get together? Be sure to check back in, as I will be doing another post on the food and drinks we made, you won’t want to miss it!
