Holiday Home Tour

holiday-home-tour-porchHi there, and welcome to a tour of how I decked out our home for the holiday season! Christmas is my favorite holiday and I just couldn’t wait to get the decor up and start blasting all of my Christmas playlists on repeat.  I wish I could say I posses the talent of elegantly adding subtle Christmas touches to my existing decor, but I don’t.  More often with me “more is more” and I have to look around at the explosion of Christmas in my house and then edit (note: after I have completely lost all control and covered the house in garland).   Case in point, our front porch.  It is covered in real garland, we even wrapped our porch swing chains in garland.  At one point I stood back and looked at the house and couldn’t stop laughing because it looked like Cousin Itt.  But I secretly liked it, so most of it stayed.christmas-front-porch-1christmas-front-doorchristmas-front-porch-2christmas-porch-swing

I tried to create a little welcoming vignette when you enter our home with this vintage wooden chair and a couple of signs that I made.

Our family room is all about the deer/woodland animals and the plaids this year!  To make things feel different from last year we put our tree in front of our windows, and kept our sectional where it is (last year we moved everything around).  I also bought a few new pieces from Target (mantel banners, stockings, and deer pillow).   I mixed these in with some vintage and older looking items like wooden crates, a ladder (for cozy throws), and a tool box filled with greens and candles.

I kept things pretty simple in the dining room by just using greens, berries and candles.

And in the kitchen I continued with simple greens in a vintage tin for the table.

This with a deer pillow finished the room (deer, noel cutout and pillow all from Target, again)!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. I just want to come and sit in every room with a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy all the holiday decorations. The porch catches your eye first and makes you want to see more. Once inside you can’t help but go from room to room looking at all the holiday touches. Know wonder I never want to leave. What a great job you did.
