Festive Family Fun Night!

xmaspartyWhat is better than good drinks, food and family during the holiday season? Nothing! Unless of course you count presents, which there were none of.  But the amazing recipes we whipped up for this occasion were gifts enough!

We decided each couple would be responsible for two appetizers, one dessert, and one drink.  That combined with some games proved to be just the festive family fun night we were looking for!

We started the evening with these amazing Christmas Cranberry Margaritas, which my sister mixed up and served with your choice of a sugar or salt rim!  Holly made a few substitutions to the recipe, which included Triple Sec instead of Cointreau, Patron Silver, and Seltzer instead of Sprite.  She served each drink in a mason jar with paper straws that she glued these adorable sparkly pom poms on!  I can’t wait to drink these again on Christmas Eve, they were that tasty!

dippartywrapsWhile we sipped on our cocktails and snacked on our apps, we watched a holiday favorite “Home Alone” and played the Home Alone Drinking Game!  You can find variations of this game all over the internet, or you can make up some of your own rules!  It is a perfect way to keep any get-together lively while watching a movie!  Warning: turns out Kevin talks to himself the whole second half of the movie…so prepare yourself to get a little tipsy.

After the movie ended it was time for dessert!  Holly made these deliciously festive Peppermint Chocolate Cupcakes!  I think decorating them was her favorite part!  Eating them was mine.

dessert1 desser4What goes better with cupcakes and donuts than Homemade Salted Caramel Vodka Hot Chocolate!  Jim and I picked this recipe as we have both been obsessed with the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Dunkin Donuts lately.  So why not add a little vodka to it, and have something warm to finish the night off with while sitting next to a roaring fire!  As Craig said “best hot chocolate I have ever had in my life”.

All in all it certainly was a festive family fun night, that was oh so filling as well!
