Feature Friday – All Dressed Up

beforeandafterdresserThis amazing Feature Friday submission comes from Lauren and Gianni of Milford, Connecticut.  They found this great dresser for free on the side of the road and decided to pick it up!  With just a few steps they gave this dresser a new look and a new home!

As you can see the dresser was aged and had rusty old hardware.  But the piece had good bones so they knew a little refinishing would go a long way.

The first steps included, as always, giving the piece a good cleaning and sanding.

Not only does the primer ensure durability and good paint coverage, but it also allowed for some white to show through once the dresser was painted and distressed.  I just love that look!

Lauren and Gianni decided on a beautiful paint color, Magnet Dapple by Valspar, in an eggshell finish.  Once the paint was dry they did some light sanding to give it an antiqued look.  They also changed out the dresser hardware as an added touch.  Now the finished dresser sits in their newly renovated bedroom, and is the perfect example of turning one man’s trash into another man’s treasure!
